To our clients,

Sages-femmes Temiskaming Midwives is taking the evolving COVID-19 situation very seriously and we remain committed to providing you with the best care we can while keeping you safe. We are asking for your cooperation and patience as we implement changes to the way we normally do things.

A Reduced Appointment Schedule

Using guidance from the WHO on optimal antenatal care, a reduced antenatal visit schedule will be offered in order to reduce community transmission. This will include:

  • One contact during the first trimester

  • Two contacts during the second trimester: at 16-20 weeks; 28 weeks.

    • A third contact between 25-26 weeks may be offered

  • Five contacts during the third trimester: at 31-32 weeks; 34-36 weeks; 38 weeks; 40 weeks; 41 week

Depending on you clinical circumstances, individualized care plans may be necessary.

More Telephone Appointments

All health care providers have been ordered to stop doing non-essential in-person appointments. You will receive a call from your midwife ahead of your scheduled appointment to answer questions and review prenatal topics. If appropriate, this telephone appointment will replace in-person appointments, or simply help in shortening the in-person visit.

Shorter In-Person Appointments

Because 6ft of separation cannot be maintained in our clinic rooms, we will be wearing a mask for in-person appointments and you may want to do this as well. These appointments will be very short and focused only on physical assessments. For these appointments, we ask that you:

  • Please come alone.

  • Wait in you car until your scheduled appointment time (your midwife will make arrangements with you to let you in).

  • Wash your hands immediately upon entering the clinic.

We are doing our very best to keep everyone in our community healthy. Thank you for doing your part by staying home!
